Ode to Our Captains, Marike and Susan
(The Queens of D8)

At The Patterson Club in Fairfield County,
We played with heart and hustled plenty.
From Easton’s courts to Greenwich green,
We brought the fire — our badass team!

But behind each serve, each volleyed shot,
Were two brave souls who gave a lot.
Marike and Susan — hear the cheer!
Our captains extraordinaire this year.
They juggled schedules, texts, and dates,
Confirmed who's in—and who’s was running late.
With humor sharp and spirits bright,
They led us into every fight.
We tied with Roxbury and Bailiwick too,
But Easton—okay—you got your due.
The rest? Defeated with flair and might,
Our team in white was quite the sight.
They kept us looped with texting threads,
While chaos swirled around our heads.
"Who’s home, who’s out, who's got the snacks?"
These gals kept everything on track.
From Regina’s slice to Suzanne G’s spin,
From Hillie’s grit to Kat’s bold win,
With Kristen, Seena, Debbie, too,
And both Veronicas pulling through.
Maria, Kim, and Sara shine,
And Sandy’s serve? Quite the divine.
Gwen and Krista, Suzanne R —
You all helped make us superstars!
But none of this could quite have been,
Without our fearless leaders’ grin.
They’re stylish, sharp, and organized —
(And maybe slightly terrorized).
So here’s to texts at 7 A.M.,
To sideline jokes and cheering them.
To Friday feasts, and sass and grace —
And guiding us to second place!
With gratitude (and maybe wine?),
We toast you both — you’re so divine.
To Marike and Susan — take a bow,
Division 8’s best captains — WOW!
